Ed Youtz - Woodturner
 |
My turning career started in high school, but was interrupted by 40 years of science teaching. Now retired, I am turning clean-lined, smoothly finished, pieces from local hard woods. It is a joy to see the figure and grain of the wood appear as the piece is shaped on the lathe. I started out making functional items and find many buyers using them for purely decorative purposes.
The Split/Exploded Turnings are something new. I look forward seeing how they develop.
If you would like to try wood turning, check out the class schedule at the WoodCraft Store on Lehigh Street in Allentown. Teaching turning for me is a combination of a loved vocation and a consuming hobby. Either the Introductory Spindle I Class or a class in Pen Turning are appropriate for the beginner. After the spindle I class, you can progress to classes in turning bowls, plates, matched spindles, and lidded boxes.
What needs do you have that can be satisfied with turned wood? Let me make it for you or teach you to make it for yourself.
